Vancouver 2010, how to organize it's hotel ?

Vancouver 2010, Winter Olympics Games.
During the periode February 12 to 2, vancouvers hotels will be full and over full.
- 250 000 visitors
- top athletes,
- foreign dignitaries and international media.
Hotels in Vancouver are now sold-out for sixteen consecutive nights in a month they’re usually screaming for business.

For the hotel it's synonyme of plenty use of their personal, have pemporary staff, back-to-back shift, 24h disponibilities.
How can they make to have a good service?

The city will be full, their will be a lack of beds, tourist, also friends, and families will come and spent their night in guest house. Usually when staff have to work a lots of hour they sleep in one of the room, but iof the hotel is full of clients they can't and in their home they have families, they have friend, and maybe rent their apartment for a huge amont of money they have to sleep in the office.

As
Nicholas Gandossi said, manager has to sleep in their office during the Games.
An overbook city cause problems of security, and healf.
Imagine if Canadian go on final ... (Ice hockey curling...)
How the Canadian authority and hospitality managers will do?

Answer in a few weeks, here on The all star resort blog.

  1. It is clear that it is a huge event for hoteliers there. It means much more clients, other schedules, being constantly able to respond to clients'demand. During Olympic Games, the time does not stop. But it is obvious that it is a good but also a very hard time for hoteliers and staff to be available 24 hours a day...

  2. I think that this kind of event create temporary jobs, my question is what about of all the workers that will loose their job after the event?

In my opinion, it would be a good point to improve the total tourist offer; this way all the infrastructures built will be used even after the sporting event and no workers will loose their own job.

    Thank you,
